Financial Technology Africa

Lagos, Nigeria: Visa, a FIFA partner and the preferred card of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™,
recently activated their interactive campaign in Lagos to bring a taste of the 2010 FIFA
World CupTM to Nigeria. Visa’s extensive reach on the continent is the perfect platform to
bring Africans from numerous countries closer to the game. Visa’s activation against this
global sponsorship further builds on the growing excitement among football supporters on the
continent.

Visa aims to connect with cardholders and football fans worldwide through various
activations to drive preference for and usage of Visa products, promote Visa’s association
with the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ and reinforce the ways in which Visa enhances the
fan’s FIFA World Cup™ experience. To date, more than 156 financial institutions and 24
merchant partners in 65 markets throughout the world have participated in Visa’s FIFA-themed
marketing programs.

Nigeria being one such country has seen Visa launch a competition based campaign allowing
Visa cardholders the chance to win one of two double packages to a 2010 FIFA World Cup™
semi-final in South Africa.

Football fans can enter this competition at the interactive Visa booth stationed at The
Palms shopping centre over weekends between the 12th February and the 11th April 2010. The
booth has been designed as a football pitch with miniature goal posts where supporters who
have used their Visa cards can try to score a winning goal. The booth also features a
backdrop simulating a live football match where supporters can have their very own picture
taken as if present at the game. Shoppers who have made purchases on their Visa cards at
The Palms shopping centre will also be entered into the draw to win the grand prize when
they complete an entry form and drop it into the entry bins provided.

The football themed Visa activations aims to rally further excitement on the continent for
this first ever African FIFA World Cup™, an occasion that will be celebrated across the
continent and remembered for years to come.
